Customer Need
Existing Fortune 500 customer was preparing to launch a new standardized global motor platform leveraging their design offices in 3 countries. Customer needed a trusted manufacturing partner with extensive experience to be the single point of coordination to manage the design project, prototype development and manufacturing, plus design for manufacturing (DFM) expertise to reduce manufacturing costs.
Requirement of meeting Buy America for US projects and simultaneously be positioned to meet global best cost for international projects. New capabilities required for silicon, Class C, vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI).
Rockit Motors Solution
Rockit Motor’s Engineering team quarterbacked the project and lead the design for manufacturing (DFM) efforts.
- Designed, built and implemented new manufacturing tooling.
- Invested $2M in new capabilities and commissioned new component production lines in Canada, US, and Mexico to provide a full range of manufacturing configurations to meet Buy America and best cost solutions.
